Dead Space 2023 Remake

🩸🔧 Dead Space Remake Review 🔧🩸

Let’s start by showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Non-Spoiler Plot Overview:

In the Dead Space Remake (2023), players return to the nightmarish corridors of the USG Ishimura, this time with an overhauled engine, updated visuals, and a voice for Isaac Clarke. The same disturbing story unfolds — Isaac and his team arrive to repair a mining vessel, only to discover the crew has been gruesomely transformed into Necromorphs. However, this version adds new layers of immersion, minor story enhancements, and gameplay refinements to tighten the terror.

Why It Still Feels Like The Thing Meets Alien 👽:

Like its original, this remake oozes cinematic horror DNA. From The Thing, we get body horror and grotesque transformations that redefine what it means to be “dead.” From Alien, the claustrophobic hallways, the industrial atmosphere, and the terrifying sense that something is always lurking. It’s a brutal blend of sci-fi dread and creature-feature gore.

Character Rundown:

Isaac Clarke – Now fully voiced, Isaac is more human than ever. His voice adds much-needed emotional depth as he wrestles with grief, horror, and survival.

Nicole Brennan – Her story gets some expanded moments that make her arc feel more tragic.

Kendra Daniels – She’s more fleshed out (pun possibly intended), and her scenes feel better integrated.

Zach Hammond – Slightly reworked to feel more grounded and tragic.

Pacing / Episode Flow 🧠:

The remake keeps the 12-chapter structure but introduces seamless transitions — no more loading screens or chapter breaks. The Ishimura is now fully explorable, with some Metroidvania-style backtracking. Added side quests give deeper lore for Nicole and the ship’s crew. It’s a smoother, more rewarding experience without losing the punch of the original pacing.

Pros ✅:

Jaw-dropping graphics — from lighting to textures, this is how you remake a game.

Ragdoll physics: Blasting limbs off Necromorphs has never felt more viscerally crunchy.

Enhanced gore and dismemberment system (strategic limb-blasting is still king).

Fully voiced Isaac adds emotional weight.

No microtransactions — THANK YOU.

Great accessibility features.

Expanded lore and side quests.

Cons ❌:

Occasional glitches and frame stutters on some platforms.

Some players may miss the “old-school” feel of Isaac being silent.

A few side objectives feel like padding.

Final Thoughts 💭:

The Dead Space Remake proves how to do a remake right. It honors the original while improving nearly everything — visuals, audio, combat, pacing, and emotional resonance. It feels terrifyingly fresh, yet nostalgically faithful. This isn’t just a new coat of paint — it’s a full-scale engineering miracle. If you’re a horror fan, this one should absolutely be in your collection.

Rating: ★★★★★★★★★★ (10/10)

Spoiler Warning ⚠️:

You know what time it is… SPOILERS BELOW.

Spoilers 💀:

Like before, Isaac learns that the Marker — and the Church of Unitology — are the real culprits behind the Necromorph plague. But this time, we get additional cutscenes and logs that add nuance to Nicole’s backstory and Isaac’s descent into trauma. Isaac’s hallucinations are even more disturbing thanks to the new engine.

Kendra’s betrayal hits harder with her added development, and Hammond’s death is even more crushing. The Hive Mind fight looks incredible in the new engine. Oh, and that infamous jump scare ending? Yeah, it still slaps — HARD.

Isaac escapes… but his mind? Yeah, not so much.

🧠🛸🔪 THE END.
