Minecraft: Let’s start off with showing y’all the trailers shall we?
Yes finally I’m getting around to reviewing this gem of a game, also I know this trailer I’m about to show isn’t official, but it’s fanmade. I don’t care, it’s freaking epic.
Dunnnnnnn! So today’s review is gonna be slightly different since there’s no story to tell. Instead, I’m just gonna talk about a few of my favorite updates this game has given us, talk about my experience with Minecraft, and all that.
So firstly let’s talk about my experience, I remember starting to play Minecraft when it came out on the Xbox 360, I still miss that console, cue trailer.
The fact u could do a 4 split screen co-op with friends was the main gimic of this, I remember every time my friend would come over and I would play Minecraft on the Xbox 360, those times were great.
Granted I had no idea how to build properly in the game, but hey still, yeah I build poorly. Wish I had pics but I don’t.
My building skills consisted of building uneven square blocks, with a lack of color pallet, so I mainly just used wood. Yes when I look back at those days, I cringe a bit.
Now let’s talk about my favorite mash-up packs. Yeah mash-up packs u heard that right.
Yeah, these are my favorite btw, I remember way back when they added the Halloween texture pack for free, that was such an experience. But then like few years later they added a Halloween mash-up pack. Now that was better if u asked me.
Heck, when I want to build horror-themed builds (which I do more often than not), I’ll load up a map and put on this texture pack, it really gives it that spooky vibes.
Why did I love the Ancient Egypt mash-up pack? It’s because Ancient Egypt interests me a lot, I find the subject fascinating, as for the Chinese Mythology mash-up pack, it’s because the whole aura and map are gorgeous.
I also very much love the Festival mash-up pack, I just really enjoy the warm vibes of the holidays. But I’m forgetting to mention the most iconic thing that came from the Xbox 360 Minecraft.
The tutorial levels, ohhhhhh I bet everyone remembers those. Each update would have a new tutorial map u can go into, let’s face it no one went into those because they sucked, they went into those maps to explore and be amazed.
So what are my top 4 favorite updates they added to Minecraft I bet y’all are wondering. Well, here they are
Yeah in no particular order, but those are my favorite. I remember the banners, was super excited for them. Until I realized on Xbox 360 they had a limit of 16 that could only be placed.
16! 16!? What am I supposed to do with that? Yeah, the Xbox 360 version was very limiting, as for why did I love the ocean update, it’s because the ocean in Minecraft needed to be worked on for a long time.
For so long the ocean in Minecraft was vacant with nothing but squids and gravel. Now in the Minecraft ocean we have,
Coral/Coral Blocks
Tropical fishes
Salmon fish
Puffer fish
Dolphins (my favorite both in-game and real life, they are just so adorable, specifically bottle-nosed Dolphins)
Turtles
Sea grass/Seaweed
Yeah took them long enough, I especially love that the game has a trident that u cab use, plus a new mob called the Drowned, rhey are essentially zombies underwater.
Ohhh spooky, now why do I love the Trails and Tails update? It’s because I love the cherry blossom blocks, wood and trees then added into Minecraft.
That shade of pink I now use on my builds. Reminds me of cotton candy. Also my perspective I believe there’s too many light sources now in Minecraft.
We used to have torches, but now on top of torches and Glowstones, we also got
Camp Fires
Sea Lanterns
Lanterns
Frog Lamps
Sea Pickle
I prefer using Lanterns and Sea Lanterns over Torches because Torches look ugly, yes yes I know it’s a classic Minecraft item. It’s pivotal to the game but still.
Side note they stopped updating the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft when it got around to the Elytra update. Yes I know I’m going all over the place, but I’m just ranting on.
After that, they stopped, which leads us to Minecraft Bedrock, cue trailer.
Right so where to begin, well firstly with the bedrock addition u now have more availability on each map and fewer limitations, that being said.
Also, I was lucky enough to transfer over
4 tutorial maps to bedrock addition
All my mashup packs and skin packs from the Xbox 360 addition (well all skin packs except for the birthday skin packs which didn’t transfer over, I’m sad about that).
Now let’s talk about the infamous mob votes, oh damn the mob votes. I’m glad they officially ended, for u see when the mob votes were a thing. The devs had the community vote on 4 mobs they showed and the one that got the most votes would be put in the next update.
The only thing is I’m pretty sure no one or not enough people voted for the mobs I’m about to tell u that they added to the game, it’s thanks to this mess we got.
Phantoms (one of the worst mobs, they are flying creatures that attack u when u don’t sleep for 3 nights in Minecraft, how wonderful, who voted for that?)
Alley ( a small little blue pixy that picks up objects for u, whoopie doo?)
Sniffers (a glorified seed detector that digs up seeds for u, hey here’s an idea go find a village and steal their seeds from their plants!) (What’s the point of this glorified seed tracker?)
Let’s not discuss the soundtrack and which ones I love the most, here’s the link to the full soundtrack.
As for my favorite soundtracks from this game, here they are,
Now let’s get the rating out of the way, overall yeah I’m giving Minecraft a solid 10/10, I would give it nothing less than that, to this day I’m still enjoying myself a lot with Minecraft.
Also perfect timing to release this review because we’re now 2 weeks until The Minecraft Movie releases, in case some y’all don’t know what I’m talking about, cue the trailer.
Ehhhhhh I shudder at the thought of this film and the massive potential of the film-sucking. Anyway till next time.
