Dead Island 2: Let’s start off with showing yall the trailers shall we?

Ok, we need to talk about this game’s rocks history first, this game was announced back in like 2014 with that teaser trailer. Ever since they went silent. We didn’t hear anything.

Unfortunately, we eventually heard this game went through different producers and companies, and they each kept leaving the game. Leaving this game on hiatus, no one knowing if or when this game would be released.

But then in 2023, a trailer came out of nowhere that told us the game was officially coming out that year, it only took them 9 freaking years to finally make this game.

So how did this game turn out after all the rewrites? After all the producers/companies leaving this game? Let’s find out but fits the plot rundown.

So what’s the rundown of the plot y’all are wondering?

Well, u play as a character from a group of 4 people who look like they are from a rejected overwatch game.

Y’all get onto a plane to escape LA, instead, u just crash-land straight back into LA. Well that was a waste of time, also straight off the bat ur character gets bitten by a zombie after the crash when trying to protect an actress.

Spoilers, turns out ur immune to the virus, ur a carrier. Hmmmmm wonder if we’re we heard this before? Also speaking of LA, this game is called Dead Island 2.

But yet the game takes place in Hollywood! And Bel Air. Ah yes, u know that iconic island that’s known as LA America!

So uh besides hating that the game takes place in LA, I am also not a huge fan of the game using elemental elements to kill the undead, yes that’s the right elemental element.

Such as

Lighting

Fire

Water

What is this, the Avatar version of Dead Island?

U find yourself going to a house with the actress to protect her and her friend. U eventually encounters Sam B.

Yes, that Sam B (who do you Voodoo B**ch). He’s alive yay, unfortunately, he ain’t playable (booo).

He decides to help out our main character so they can find a way to get out of LA.

Ur character ends up locating a doctor who says they might know a way to reverse the virus, u also locate an ex pilot who has PTSD because he crashed a helicopter which led to his friend dying and him getting scars.

Ur main character tries to convince him to fly them out of the city, but he only agrees to reluctantly after his idle who’s that actress, comes and talks sense into him.

Glad that went one way and not the other.

Before we get far I do want to mention the saving grace of this game, the gore. Oh yeah the gore in this game is Chef’s Kiss, might be the most realistic gore we will see in a long time.

The game allows u to slice and dice off skins and muscles of the zombie until all that is left is bone. Heck, u can dislocate their jaws and see it happen.

Also punching a zombie after they are killed will punch off thief flesh, yep a whole lot of blood, guts, flesh flying off, jaws being dislocated, bones sticking out, limbs being sliced off.

Yeah, this game might not be for everyone, mainly the squeamish.

Let’s get the rating out of the way, well I enjoyed myself granted I do have mixed opinions I’ll get into why soon. Some ups and tons of downs….overall I’ll give this game a solid 7/10. Warning ⚠️ spoilers ahead y’all been warned.

Time to spoil the 3rd act and any revelations, zo turns out that the scientist guy u met, yeah he’s evil. Wow, what a shocker, wait where did I hear this one before? He had a helping hand which led to LA getting infected, why? Because h3 wanted to test the virus on hosts to try to counter it and make a vaccination.

That’s a fucked up way of doing stuff, unfortunately his own daughter has to find out the hard way he’s a monster when ur main character goes to face him to get a vaccination from him.

Why does our main character need a vaccination? Well as soon as y’all were about to leave LA on the helicopter, Sam B gets bitten and is near death, uh oh. So our main character goes to get a vaccination from the scientist.

Who’s locked himself in a glass container with his daughter guarding it outside, why’s he inside? He’s infected and about to mutate (hmmm where have I heard this one before?).

He admits the truth to his daughter about what he’s done, and he tells u where the vaccination is. He only has one, unfortunately, but that’s good enough. He tells u to protect his daughter then he mutates into a mutaed creature, u have to fight him until he’s dead.

So anyways u make it back to the helicopter where u cure Sam B., everyone gets onto the helicopter except our main character. Because they decide to stay behind for some reason, Sam B gives our main character his weapon as the 3 teammates escape on the helicopter and u stay behind to fight the undead that now has just broken down a fence. The end.
