Choo Choo Charles: yes I know y’all are probably noticing a pattern here, I’m reviewing train-related things, for a good reason if u ask me…but before we get any further let’s show y’all the trailer shall we?

So yes an indie horror game about a demonic train with spider legs….so this review will be different because the plot is so minimal, so we won’t spend too long on this…so let’s get into the plot….

Oh wait first let’s get into the ratings, overall I got to praise the singular developer who made this game….I always appreciate someone’s vision when they bring it to life, I try to back these up.

Overall I’ll give this game a solid 8/10, warning spoilers ahead y’all been warned…..so in this game ur main character u play as comes to an island where u are asked to come help hunt down this giant demon spider train who’s terrorizing the island and it’s folks.

Anyways u get to the island, ur friend shows u a train ur gonna be riding throughout the game which can be customizable btw…all u need to do is complete a side quest for other humans to get different guns for the train, find paint cans around the island so u can change colors…also lastly find scrap parts located all around this island to upgrade ur train to its maximum…u will need to do that especially since u will facing against Charles in this game…

Anyways u both make it out on the train, Charles shows up grabs ur character’s friend, kills him leaves…ur character walks up to him, and the friend starts talking telling u to find his son..all while u the audience realizes these NPCs mouths aren’t moving one bit yet they can talk….

What are they ventriloquist?

So after doing some truly bizarre side quest such as.

Helping a witch (yes a witch) get s specific dead fish that’s on an island across from her hut so she can add to her potion..

Shred the waters lightly because there’s a monster under the water, if it sees u moving it will come and eat u….kinda reminds me of that scene in Amnesia The Dark Descent, with the invisible creature under the water and u have to prevent from it eating u….if u stay too long in the water.

Help a guy retrieve a drawing of Charles that’s locked in a chest. Then he’ll give u another gun to add to your train.

Help another guy go finish a gun by taking the piece he has, then u have to go locate the barrels of the gun that’s located on another part of the map surrounded by cultists…..yeah did I forget to mention on this island there’s cultists who are wearing Choo Choo Charles masks?

BTW u have no hand-to-hand weapons to fight back, ur only option if u bump into a cultist is to…run or sneak past them…or lure them back to ur train then gun them down with the train gun.

There’s a side quest where u help this lady get her jar of pickles back because she just can’t live without her jar of pickles……alright then, is there a gas leak on this island? Some of these people seem slightly looney, especially this woman who seems to be troubled she doesn’t have her pickles.

So anyway after doing the side quests, upgrade ur train with scrap. Encountering Charles multiple times…also after you collect the 3 colorful eggs in each mine that’s guarded by cultists…that u will have to use to stop Charles…

U make ur way up to a temple, and inside is a triangle thing u stick all 3 eggs….the leader of the cult shows up and tries to warn u to not put the third one in, u don’t know what ur doing…unfortunately u put the third one in…

What this does is summon Charles to u, and a laser comes out of the eggs making Charles stronger and slightly bigger, uh oh congrats…so u run back to ur train while Charles kills the cultists. Including eating the leader….

U make it on ur train and start shooting Charles while he’s running towards u, anyways u eventually lead him to the bridge u placed bombs on earlier where the bridge blows up when Charles goes on it…causing him to fling up into the air and fall face first into spikes that are located under the bridge…killing him, the end..

Except probably not because we get a teaser at the end of trillions of eggs in a mine underground….uh oh, probably more Charles will spawn….speaking of Charles even after u defeat him and bear the game, u can still play free play in the map…but also Charles still shows up and attacks u, no idk why or how.

One thing is for certain (to quote a YouTuber named Gmanlives) “After playing this game I’ll never look at Thomas The Tank Engine the same way ever again” Yeah ur not wrong….now all I can imagine is Thomas The Tank Engine with spider legs…

Anyway I hope y’all enjoyed this review, I certainly had fun writing it…also here’s a tease for the next review I’m working on.
