Walking Dead Destinies

The Walking Dead Destinies: oh jeepers where do I begin, well firstly I guess we shall start with the trailers shall we? Sighhh

Also, I cannot wait to tear this game apart, ohhhhhhh I’m excited

Yeah if ur wondering do the graphics get any better than they are in the trailer? Oh boy let me enlighten yall on something, u will be hugely disappointed if u go in with that kinda thought…so just go in with the thought that this will be a shitty game…

Let’s now get the rating out of the way so we can get into spoilers because I can’t wait to nitpick this apart…btw spoiler alert don’t buy this game don’t play it…it’s not worth ur time…

This game gets a 0/10 In case y’all are wondering, it’s horrible don’t play it….has too many bugs/glitches, feels unpolished, the gameplay is a joke…the mechanics are definitely a joke….just save ur 40 dollars and read this review, anyways warning ⚠️ spoilers ahead y’all has been warned.

So where do I even start? Well start off by giving a brief rundown of what this game’s story adopts which will be quick btw…then I’ll get into individual issues, where things might come off messy but hey if this game isn’t gonna put in any effort…why the hell should I put any effort in the organization in my review?

So basically this game’s plot loosely follows the first 4 seasons of The Walking Dead…u know when it was still a good series, so if ur wondering where does the title Destinies come in and play a role in this game? Well in this game u have the option to choose your own Destinies….. here are the main key choices throughout the game.

BTW this game is already off on the wrong foot, the opening level title is Days Gone By, except there’s a typo, it instead says Days Gone Bye. U know like someone saying bye to someone else, ah yes I just love that episode of The Walking Dead. Days Gone Bye.

Yeah, u got that right for sure, my brain cells definitely said Bye when I booted up this game!

U can choose to side with Merle and let him handcuff T-Dog, or side with T-Dog and handcuff Merle like in the show..

U can choose to either save Beth or grab the med kit to save Carl from dying, if u save Beth u let Carl die…if u don’t save Beth she dies and u save Carl..

U can choose to side with Shane or Rick, if u side with Shane u kill off Rick. If u side with Rick u kill Shane….if u picked saving Shane he basically becomes Rick 2.0, I wish I was kidding but he ends up just having the same beard and outfit that Rick wore in seasons 3 through 4.

U can choose as Michonne to either spare the Governor’s zombie daughter, if u do that u have just created an ally and he will be your ally, if u choose to kill his daughter well he becomes the evil Governor we all know and loathe.

Also if u chose to leave behind T-Dog on the roof handcuffed, he appears in season 4 with a missing hand….so he’s T-Dog Merle? Oh, it gets more confusing there’s a choice u can pick that also leads him to become the evil Governor with an eyepatch….so basically if u leave T-Dog behind he becomes Evil Governor T-Dog Merle…

Yeah, try saying that 3 times…so now u get the idea of what this game is like? Yeah also there’s a skill tree branch for each character….if u allow a character to die they can not be upgraded, and there skill tree becomes locked….that on paper sounds interesting….now let’s talk about how this entire game was executed…

It was executed poorly, where do I even begin? Well firstly remember what I said this game loosely follows the events of the first 4 seasons? heck it ends right after the attack on the prison from the Governor…which I guess is fine, forgot to mention that part. But this game also cuts out pivotal movements and fills it in with abridged intermission screen texts which got very boring quickly…also these intermission screen texts I found have tons of typos and grammatical errors..

For example during the first screens of the entire game when it’s describing that Rick slipped into a coma and woke up in a zombie apocalypse, instead of the game saying slipped it said “Slippled”….u heard that correctly he Slippled. U can’t make this shite up…the fact that they got paid even with the mistakes is baffling….I wouldn’t pay my employees if they made multiple mistakes in a row and didn’t go back to fix them…

Oh in the last chapter, before it starts, this row of paragraphs shows up and once again there’s a typo! There’s one line that says “And to make matters worst” Yes “Worst” Sorry u can’t say to make matters worst! It’s worse! Not wort! U could have said “The Worst”!

Oh, btw when u start off as Rick and u pick ur first weapon up which is a knife, the words that appear says “Pick up Knifestab” Yes Knifestab! Seriously u can’t make any of this shit up.

Or the best one, when the final credits show up, the title shows up and they also had a freaking typo! The title was supposed to say The Walking Dead Destinies, but what it says is “The Walkind Dead” hahahahaha The Walkind Dead!!!

Oh, it gets far worse than what I’ve just mentioned, let’s talk about how the character models look like, they look horrible, heck the character models look hideous, none of them look like the TV show characters…

For instance, Merle looks like Macaulay Culkin, specifically if Macaulay Culkin spread meth all over his cereal and ate that once a day

Rick looks like he’s on the brink of being ready to tell u he Crapped his pants, that or he looks somehow like a baby all while looking like a 40-year-old man semi-tenuously at the same time….

Glenn looks like he often has a duck kissing face!

Shane looks like a dollar store knockoff version of Shane, so yes let all that sink into y’all heads….they got the rights to the franchise specifically the TV show version. Yet they failed to get the character’s looks and mannerisms down correctly.

But it just keeps getting worse, this is the game that unfortunately keeps on giving….for instance now let’s talk about the hiding mechanisms…

Oh boy, the hiding mechanism, so get this in the game world there are these dust clouds around that u can hide in….also no these dust clouds don’t move. Because that’s how dust clouds work huh?

Oh but don’t worry (say it with me everyone) it gets worse….for u see when u hide in the dust clouds and let’s say a walker walks into the dust, all it will do is nudge into u a bit…then continue to walk past u, without acknowledging u at all….(sighhh) wow what a modern game this is. Clearly, this is up there with Dying Light….if it was made by a dollar store company and made for the Android phone maybe…

Did the devs even try at all? Like at all? Were any F**ks given? I spent 60 dollars on this game, can I get a refund? Lolo

Heck, I’m starting to make me wonder did any of the devs have ever seen what smoke looks like? Are the devs aliens  pretending to be humans? Oh but don’t worry the mechanics of this game get worse.

The gun gameplay is a joke. When u take ur gun out and then try to aim it while moving it around, the screen starts jerking in any direction u move in very quickly like it’s The Flash…leaving it impossible for u to aim at a walker and shoot them properly because ur camera is struggling to keep up with ur controls…

When u take medication to heal yourself it sounds like ur drinking a liquid, did they even try? Doubt it, this is the most rinky-dink game I’ve played.

The skill point system is whack, for instance, if on one level at the prison, u locate a book behind a dump then u pick it up. The game will give u 13! Skill points! 13!! Yeah, they’re just handing out skill points at this point.

Oh lastly the human enemies, oh dear lord the human enemies…. they’re inept, let’s say ur hiding behind an object to hide from a gang of enemies. But then u decide to kill one of them…then hide again, and the men will fun up…look left and right then proceed to go back to what they were doing as if nothing happened, wow such a complex AI.

BTW remember how I said none of the characters look like the characters from the show? How about them not acting like their TV show characters at all….

Every time u get grabbed by a walker ur character (pick 1, they all react the same way) just screams out and says

“OH NO NO NO NO!”

“I CAN’T DO THIS ANYMORE!”

“I’M STILL HERE!”

What do u mean ur still here?

Idk also hearing a 70-year-old man saying one-liners every time he kills a walker like he is Duke Nukem is absolutely funny.

Also sometimes the character’s dialog just overlaps with each other…for instance during the mission where u encounter Morgan trying to shoot at u while barricaded in his building.

Rick: Morgan stop! I’m just!

Morgan: liar!

Uhhhh excuse me Morgan, run that by me again I didn’t say anything to u mate. Oh if all this didn’t sound bad enough….oh boy I want to bring up the Carl parts of this game because those parts got a good laugh out of me….

Remember how I said this game had mechanisms that don’t fit each character? Well, every character u use, while using a pistol will aim it in the same pose as Rick…u know the holding the gun in the left hand, straight ahead while the other hand is down to the side and the body slightly tilted…yeah that iconic pose..

Yeah, every character does that pose when aiming a pistol! How lazy were these devs?

So remember that scene in the show where Rick and Shane and Carl are looking at a Deer, while that happens one of them accidentally shoots the shotgun they’re holding which shoots Carl….which yada yada u know the rest…they go to Hershals house for help….

So u would think the game would get that accurate right? Well, a funny thing no….in fact in the still-framed shots both Shane and Rick talking to each other, and none of them is holding up a gun toward the deer…

They then hear a gunshot, they turn around and see Carl on the floor, and the deer sprints off…I’m sorry what? Is the implication that the deer shot Carl? Because neither Rick nor Shane had their guns up toward the deer nor did they have their fingers on the triggers!…. I took note of my reaction at the moment…

“The deer shot Carl! Hahahahahah the deer shot Carl! Because neither Rick nor Shane had their fingers on the trigger nor were their guns aimed at the deer! Hahahah the deer shor Carl! Coral! God what is even this game?!”

Yeah once again u can’t make any of this up…oh remember how I briefly talked about how u have the choice as Shane to save Beth from dying from walkers or take the med kit back to Carl, yeah I decided to save Beth…I said, F**k Carl…

What comes next had me crying out in tears, the exact next scene I kid u not is of the gang standing around the grave of Carl and crying about it….are u kidding me? Hahahahahah, so let me get this straight, so I decided to save Beth and Carl dies right away? No Shane couldn’t just have taken the med kit and saved Beth?

Also as I said this happens in the next still frame, like right after….again you can’t make any of this up…hahahahaha.

If u decide to kill off Glenn, the way the game honors him is absolutely absurd…the words show up on the screen “Glenn has left the group” Ah yes he just left…yeah he got up and left, from living…

Could u devs not give any Shites when making this game?

How is it we got honored last year with 3 bad games in a row? First, we had Gollum, then this game then Skull Island…all 3 are janky-ass games with terrible graphics, oh, and mechanisms that feel like they didn’t even try…or better yet fit in the early 2000s era, yet came out in 2023!

Oh shite, I completely forgot to mention a key important part of this game..well no time than now to mention it.

So in this game, while ur playing, these messages will come up from your team asking u for help to give advice on what they should be doing while on there on missions! Why can’t u figure it out for urself?

Anyway there’s the opportunity to make a mistake and accidentally lead them to fail their mission or help them succeed, btw to give an example of how bad this is, well there’s this time later on (if u choose to keep Shane alive, and kill Rick off).

Shane off-screen goes on a mission to retrieve a truck, he contacts ur characters…if u give him the wrong advice the mission fails…and how does it fail? Well glad u asked so if u gave him the wrong advice turns out that on this mission for him to go retrieve a truck, he ends up going there killing everyone off there then leaves the truck!

Yes, I want y’all to let that sink into y’all heads, he had one mission to get a truck, but decided to kill everyone there and then leave the truck, why am I trying to find logic In this game?

Now let’s talk about the ending of this game because oh boy there’s an obvious error I badly wanna talk about….so come to the end of this game where u fight the Governor at the prison….u know how that goes, well only if y’all watched the show…

Anyway, let’s say u decided to pick the path where u kill Rick and save Shane…. Anyway, the game ends with a boss fight, speaking of boss fights…I need to discuss about how bad the boss fights are…let’s look no further than Rick and Shane’s fight…

The boss fights, oh boy the boss fights….well, I can safely say these boss fights suck A$$…so basically after u make ur decision on who u help side with (aka pick to play and who u pick to kill off) the boss fight happens, for example, Rick against Shane…u can pick to either side with Shane or Rick…doesn’t matter really..

But what does is the boss fight, because in the boss fights u spawn in a fenced field with a gun, u shoot Shane till his bar is down..u think it’s over but then his bar respawns then ur has given a melee weapon instead so now u have to attack him melee style…all while walkers spawn in to attack u…

So now on top of u having to kill the boss. U have to avoid and kill the walkers…which for some reason only attack u and avoid the boss (Rick or Shane depending on who u pick) which makes sense, no wait it doesn’t make sense at all…I was being sarcastic u bimbo..

So yeah that’s how bad the boss fights to get in this game, are y’all starting to realize the issue with this game yet?

Anyways so at the end after The Governor boss fight, this animated cut scene happens….wow animated? They tried something different, just a bit too late to it if u ask me…

In the left corner of the screen when the game panders out u can see CARL! And RICK! Stabbing zombies! The hell? Didn’t they both die? Wow this game just keeps on not trying….it’s like the devs were just hoping that the player would pick the path to keep Carl and Rick alive.

Anyway I give up, luckily the game ends…btw the end credits are a mess….it’s buggy, and the music doesn’t play, instead ur sitting there in dead silence, oh wait I say silence but u will hear the grunting sounds of a walker dying from being set on fire!

BTW enjoy this video of this YouTuber playing through this game and showing every issues the game has.

You can’t make this stuff up…. Anyway the end, get this game off my system now….I hope y’all enjoyed this review, here’s a tease for the next review I’m doing
