Mortal Kombat 1: Let’s start off with showing y’all the trailers shall we?

Sorry had to do that, for all 3 of these Mortal Kombat game reviews, I’m not gonna talk about the story I want y’all to witness the story on your own….I won’t be spoiling it, what instead I’ll be talking about is-

1. Is the game worth it?

2. How good the game is based on its character rosters

3. Talk a bit about my handful of favorite characters

4. For one of these reviews I’ll be playing 1 clip for a DLC character but that’s it…I won’t say which one or which Mortal Kombat review I’ll be doing that in…..wanna keep some suspension..

5. Talk about the gameplay if it’s any good, mainly will mainly be talking about how pathetic I am at fighting games…plus then mention my fighting tactics, yeah prepare to be amused by my incompetence…

6. Lastly Talk about the level of gore each game has because the games are well known for being gory…

7. I’ll also talk about character customization…..the amount of customization there is…

8. I’ll talk about the types of game modes this game has

9. Ill talk about thr tone of the game

So to not confuse anyone this game isn’t the first Mortal Kombat game, no so at the end of MK 11, spoilers….Liu Kang becomes the new Raiden the lightning god….

They go back in time creating an alternate universe where things have been reset from all the way at the beginning…so in a way this game is a slight reboot….

Also warning ⚠️ this game series is extremely grotesquely gory and graphically violent….so if any of y’all don’t like any of that, then this game isn’t for you and neither will this review….

With that out of the way Let’s get the rating out of the way so in case u wanna stop reading any spoilers from there and experience the game on your own which I wouldn’t blame u if that’s the case…

Overall I really actually like this game but no were as close as I liked MK 11 or MK X….now those games to me are God tier, now some will disagree but this is my opinion…

The graphics for this game is downright gorgeous to the point it looks so realistic….

Also, they fixed an issue that I had with MK X, the way u get cosmetics for characters……in this game all u have to do is do tower missions and play as a specific character….then u have to play and play the tower missions to gain xp for the character to level up then each time u level up u get a cosmetic item for the specific character ur playing as…

Well, that’s an improvement, a lot better than going into the krypt, opening up random crates, and hoping u find something useful…..bravo MK 1 u did something better…

The issue I have with this game is that the game forces upon the players a double team up,  yeah this game forces u to play a level with a second player called Kameo Fighter….worst thing in my opinion introduced into the Mortal Kombat universe….

The fun thing about Mortal Kombat has always been the fact it’s a single-person/single-player fighting game…but now in this game, it’s a 2 player-team-up/single-player fighting game….and I can’t fathom why they came up with this idea then force it down our throats by making it the base mechanic….

Why not just make it a separate mode so u can choose between doing that or a single-person/single-player fighting mode between a player-team-up/single-player lightning mode….

Also, I think out of these 3 games this game has the smallest character roster in my opinion…..

Also small nitpick but every time it seems a new MK game comes out they keep taming down the level of gore….for instance, in MK X you can cut people’s faces off and slice people’s heads in half using Kung Laos hat….here the most goriest thing u will be seeing is popping a players head off…

Yeah, that’s the amount of gore we’re now at compared to MK X….what is it to appeal to people who think this game series needs to be tamed down? No, it shouldn’t, that’s the thing about this game series it’s a super gory fighting type game….

But as stated in my MK 11 review I think it’s good they are taming down the gore ever so slightly, even though this game is still gory but still…..because remember some devs got PTSD from their job on MK 11, that shouldn’t be acceptable for any jobs…..

Also, some characters I loved in MK 11 didn’t return for this game so that tainted my experience slightly….

Yeah, that’s a big roster huh? Now let’s talk about the gameplay and my lack of fighting skills in this game…

Now let’s talk about the game modes…. there are

Frankly, the only ones I use are local single-player…..but that’s just me, also I use the Tower….

If y’all can’t tell the amount of game modes in this game is a massive step down from the previous 2 games….the fact they got rid of the Krypt is baffling…in favor of adding Invasions…

Which hands down is single handily the worst game mode, what it is well…it’s a blatant point ang click at a bird eye view type game mode where every single time u click to a specific area ur gonna enter a match…..it gets really repetitive really fast, also super boring really fast….

Now to say I fight badly is an understatement, like idk how to fight properly at all…I barely know how to do combos….the only move I know to do is well to spam the Y button and jump at the same time to jump then hit the enemy 2wice to knock them down on the ground…

Also, I know how to spam the button to crouch and spam kick the enemy to the floor…yeah I’m one of those annoying players unfortunately….but I’m just not good at these fighting games….but that doesn’t mean I can’t have fun with it either…..

So now let’s talk about my personal favorite characters I like playing as…

Yeah, that’s about it really, those are the characters I enjoy playing as the most….

Ermac I just love playing as because he uses the spirit powers he has to yank people to him and attack/kill a player….yeah I’m glad they added him into this game….

Havik, well he’s an undead zombie guy who can yank his arm off to hit u with, also he yanks off his head as a pose after doing a brutality…..

Anyway let’s talk about the tone of this game, oh boy the tone where to begin…well they got rid of the dark/bleak tone of MKX and MK11, in favor for a much more brighter color pallet and tone for this game….how do I feel about that? Well, that’s still up for debate…Idk yet….

Now let’s talk about the Kustomization….oh boy I’m unfortunately not happy to tell u guys that this games Kustomization is a major step-down…..

In this game the amount of Kustomization u get is….

U can change 1 gear appearance only which is the mask of the character is wearing or helmet (depending on who ue playing as)

The color of their clothes

The type of clothes they wear

U can pick brutalities

U can pick fatalities

Yeah, that’s about it….yeah wow, that’s definitely a disappointment would y’all say? This is just a massive step-down from MK11…..

Now I’ll say this, there is a positive though…they fixed the way u can unlock gear and appearances for the characters…..so all u have to do now is grind in towers, and play as a specific character….unfortunately though u have to gain xp which sometimes each match gives u very little and then u will upgrade a level…each character has 35 levels….

Except for the DLC characters who have 20 levels for some reason…anyways u can view byw what each level will grant u, up to a point then the rest of the levels have question marks so u don’t know…..so once again it’s just more grinding but this time u don’t have to go into a krypt and open up a chest and gamble with ur luck…

No now instead u get to grind and grind on hours to level up as a specific character u play as in towers just to unlock a random cosmetic that’s locked behind a specific level….

Idk, y’all decide which is better or worse…guess it depends on what specifically ur looking for or what ur good at….for me I say I like this way better, it’s no longer a gamble from opening up a chest…..

Finally let’s talk about is the story in this game worth it? Yes, kinda…..that’s if ur still invested into multiverse stories, if u aren’t and u think Hollywood has started running the concept of the multiverse into the ground…

Then ur really not gonna enjoy the story mode on this game, especially the third act….it just feels like an Avengers Endgame-type 3rd act…..I wish that I was kidding, but the main difference between this game and that movie is that Avengers Endgame was a movie that was made after a decade of over 20 films…..

This game is just 1 singular game with a story that just brings in a multiverse because hey Marvel and DC have been doing it so why don’t we? Yeah, the whole multiverse thing is becoming overrated….

So overall do I recommend this game, well kinda, it is fun….especially if u have a friend to play with…..I hope yall enjoyed this review and plz share it with people u know….thanks
