Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty: Let’s start off with the trailers shall we?

Wow yep, we are back at it with Cyberpunk…..this time with a DLC pack, before I get into the review I wanna give some info about what this DLC/2.0 update gave us, and unfortunately some sad news….so firstly let’s get into the good news which is what this update/DLC gave us…..firstly the 2.0 update, it gave us

Revamped cop system, now the cops will not spawn out of nowhere, they instead will chase u down in vehicles, u can spot them on the side of the roads and if u commit a crime they come after u…..heck the amount of wanted stars u get makes them send out harder military forces, also if u get to Star 4 or 5 they can hack into ur vehicle to disable it….so now escaping from cops have become hard

Vehicle combat, yes finally u can now shoot ur gun within ur vehicles, also some cars have built-in guns into them….ok that’s sick, cops also can and will shoot u from their car if u drive away, sometimes criminals in cars will drive up to u and start attacking u…..in my humble opinion this should have been there day one the game came out but hey its here now…

New weapons including guns and melee weapons

An entire revamped upgrade tree system, new perks

Brand new vehicles

And a slightly revamped cyberwear, I say slightly but they’ve definitely changed the way it works..

Now for what the Phantom Liberty DLC added

A new location called Dogtown, it’s a town that’s been locked behind giant walls surrounding it and cops protecting it from people entering because this area is a lawless area…..crime can and will happen, and there are no rules…….it’s anarchy…..so uh finally what they promoted in the early trailers of cyberpunk a lawless area of the town that been run down…..only took them 2 and a half years to add it in but still…

A new giant side quest storyline that’s a spy espionage type story…..along with new characters such as a spy named Reed played by Idris Elba….yes Idris Elba is now officially in cyberpunk, first it was Keanu Reeves now Idris Elba has joined the roster…..woo-hoo…..or as I call him the hottest man alive…..moving on..

So now with all that out of the way well here’s the unfortunate news, this DLC is gonna be the last content update they’re adding to this game, they’ve abandoned the system that was used to make this game….they’ve moved onto another system to start working on Cyberpunk 2……which also unfortunately from what I hear won’t be going to current gen consoles like PS5 and Xbox series X/S…..it will go straight to whatever next gen consoles come out next….oh lovely more money to spend….yeah sure why not at this point….

So without further a due let’s finally dive into the spoiler review shall we?

So this games plot does take a while into the main story before it starts…..u have to have finished main story level 20 for this side story to start, as soon as u finished story level 20 u have to wait then u will get a call from an unknown caller u have to answer it…that’s what starts the story to this side quest….but if u already have finished level 20 then ur gonna have to wait few seconds or min then u will get a call…

Anyways the plot kicks in once u get to the new locked-down location…where u meet this woman named Songbird….who appears in front of V who has just collapsed onto the floor….Songbird explains to her she is using this thing called the black wall to communicate with V right now…..then this is where things get Trippy…..Johnny appears where Songbird then walks up to him then places her hand on his arm then disables Johnny for a little while….as he vanishes he says what the F***k? Yeah what the af indeed?…

Anyways Songbird asks u to save the president, her plane she’s in is about to crash into Dogtown which the president wouldn’t be able to survive the night in…..she promises V a cure to save her…..so V then sneaks inside where she sees this underground black market thats all rough looking then she heads up the destroyed stadium they’re in, then stands on top of it with Songbird and they see the plane being shot down by a missile…then it crashes over V, knocking her down……anyways so now she heads out in a vehicle to head to save madam president….

So V gets to the crash site, kills some men who are trying to kill the president, she sneaks into the plane to find the president….they team up and head out to hide out in an abandoned apartment room for the night….after taking a tracking chip out of the president’s neck…so they wait through the night until Songbird catches up to them because for u see Songbird is her loyal assistant and she promised to meet them they’re……uh huh, how much yall wanna beat she is betraying the president?

Anyways 2 crooks try coming in to take over the room, V kills them both they get rid of the bodies…..and next day comes up and still no sign of Songbird so president Myers (Is what her name is) assumes she’s been kidnapped so she asks V to go to a location and call up a specific number that she hands V….it’s a phone number to a friend show knows….who she knows that will help them out, ohhh wonder who this can be…hehehehheh

So V heads to the location that ends up being a neatly protected restaurant with traps protecting it…..where then V finds a secret phone behind an object in the backroom, she calls up the number…the guy on the end tells her to meet him at a specific spot…so V heads out there where it turns out to be a little basketball court field…she sits they’re and Reed shows up behind her with a gun….yes the guys name is Reed I forgot to mention that, and he’s being very sneaky…because he’s a spy, he wants to make sure he can trust V….oh also guess who plays Reed? It’s Idres Elba……yayyyyyyyyy

Anyways V and Idris get in his car and they drive to the apartment to meet up with madam president…..so they get they’re and come up with a plan to rescue Songbird….and why do they need Reeds help? Easy because he knows Songbird heck she was his apprentice…..so understandably he cares about her and wants to make sure she’s safe and sound……yeah keep that in mind for now……they have a plan but they need to get into this casino building party run buy an Ex military guy who’s the villian of this story (I forget his name but he becomes semi irrelevant later u will see why)….

Ans they don’t have any inventions so they have to get access in the place…..luckily V knows someone who can help get them access into the place….a guy who goes by the name Mr. Hands…..yeah that same guy u do side gigs for in the standalone game…..woo-hoo, yeah she’s gonna contact him…so Reed says ok good once this Mr. Handa gains us access keep me posted so V leaves and contacts Mr. Hands…..he asks what does she need….u tell him that u need an access card for her and this guy named Reed to be able to enter this casino party….

Mr. Hands agrees but only if V does 3 quests for him….so u do 3 quests for him and in return he will give u what u want…..anyways u go and do 3 missions for him then he calls u up telling u to meet him at his hotel room he lives at……and here we finally get to see what the elusive Mr. Hands looks like in the flesh….and I ain’t a fan of his design….let me explain…..so they redesigned his character and they got a different actor to voice him here….

So in the silhouette of him we see on the phone calls he has a pair of glasses, no beard and slightly short spike hair but it’s short…but here when we see him in person he has combed back grey hair, a lumberjack type of beard….he’s wearing dark red striped work jacket, a tie and his hands design is different as well….where in the silhouette of him we see his sleeves rolled up and most of his arm, and his hand design looks different…..I’ll show a image by image comparison here so yall can see

Anyways V says glad to now have a face to the elusive Mr. Hands, which he says u have gained my trust u r a reliable client….u should count urself lucky very few people have seen me in person and lived to tell the tale….anyways he then pours himself some tea, he offers u tea….u have the option to decline or accept the tea….I didn’t accept the tea because I don’t like tea

Lolo, anyways so Mr. Hands gives u the access tickets and wishes u good luck……well actually he says look I don’t care what u plan on doing but plz be careful come back in one piece…..lolo So he basically just said yeah yeah I don’t care or give 2 shites about what ur gonna be doing but I do care that u stay safe…..well ok then sure

Anyways so that’s the end of seeing Mr. Hands in person, but now u will see him entirely when u get job calls from him don’t worry….so anyways V and Reed sneak into the party by uh going in through the vents, eliminating guards and then dress up into fancy clothing so they can join the party….as If they’re James Bond….lolo well this dlc is very much James Bond Esc

So they go they’re….hangout until they find Songbird…..where we find out that no she can’t just leave now, why of course not…that be too easy, no for u see she’s dying because she’s hacked to much into the black wall so she needs to get a cure she knows of….that the military villian has, she needs to get it to a friend of hers to duplicate it to also cure V…..well this makes things harder….

So now both V and Reed have to come up with a plan, they plan to rescue Songbird…..Reed wants to make sure Songbird is safe he cares about her…..so they need to escape the place first so they plan to spread out and don’t interact with each other also V needs to get info from those 2 Scottish twins over at the poker table so she needs to go and play poker…..so Reeds friend who’s in on the plan (right I forgot to mention both V and Reed get help from an old friend…who hates Reeds guts because he left her behind, but he didn’t he had to go under hiding and all that…..his friend only agrees to help if he promises her a way out to retire so here she is helping u both on phone, so she can get a way out of being a spy if she helps them) so she loans V 80k which is used for to get 800 poker tokens, so she gets that and goes to the table…

Starts gambling has conversations with the 2 twins…who one of them is a girl who drinks alot and the other is a boy who doesn’t drink and is kidna silent……V finds out from them that they’re basically hired assassins and they are the best of the best….They’re mercenaries in a way, so after V finishes the scan of they’re brains and vocals…..guess what V does next? She wins money….she gambled and won….unfortunately Reed hasn’t yet contacted back heck the woman on the other end hasn’t been able to contact him…uh oh

So then the military villain shows up, and sends the 2 siblings away he comes up to V and tells her that he knows that she and Reed are spies and that they’ve been sent by President Myers….he says I’m gonna let u both leave the town, although I should be sending u guys out the city in a body bag….but I’ll let u guys walk out of here safely, consider it a token of good faith…..thank u I guess?

So V meets Reed down in the lobby where u get escorted by the guards, u have the option to follow them to the car or pull out ur gun and start shooting them, guns a blazing….I went for guns a blazing of course…I mean don’t yall know me by now when it comes to games like this? I love going all guns and blazing, but that’s just me……

Anyways now u and Reed have to come up with a plan to save Songbird….but first V gets a call from Songbird who explains the entire situation to her….wanna know the situation?

Well she was the one who told the bad guy the president’s plane location for him to shoot down because she hates being side hand to the president, she just hates any side of the political coin period…..so yeah she’s in the deep here so V calls and tells Reed that they need to talk about Songbird, like soon….she’s in the deep end…

So now it’s now or never they have to rescue Songbird, she’s dying, the villians are about to inact there plans…..so our trio team up to go save Songbird, both V and Reeds lady friend hunt down the 2 ginger haired twins, hacks into there car drives them to there garage, Reed assassinates them and V and the lady chick take the 2 gingers identities by using a hologram mask to make them look like the 2 of them, and they also change there voices…..awesome now this is definitely some James Bond type shite…

So they head to the enemies base, sit down with the enemy, pretend to be the ginger twin assassins….and here comes the hard part, u get there sit down with the leader have a drink and u have to convince him that u are u and not a spy…so u have to pick the correct dialog from the choices, and how do u know which dialog is correct to choose? Exactly, like idk…I had to randomly guess, I failed multiple times…had to restart…that was getting annoying, just loosing and dying then having to restart that entire conversation all over again…

Anyways after u figure out how to do that properly…which I’ll say good luck, u will head down to the weapon to finalize it with Songbird, here u will have the option to side with Songbird plus help her out by helping her escape, which will also lead ur lady pal to eliminate the military villain, and Reed plus madam president plus her men will go after u plus Songbird, or u side with Reed, which engages u into a boss fight against the military villain, then u escape and bring Songbird to Reed and madam president..

I picked help Songbird escape, yeah idk why either, don’t worry I’ll get to that later why I say idk why either…..keep that in the back of yall heads for now….

So when u save Songbird, u eventually get a call from Reed saying that V made a stupid decision siding with Songbird, now Reed and the president plus her men are gonna hunt down V and Songbird….yeah things are becoming clear even though we the players wanted to trust Reed, because he’s played by Idres Elba, it’s become abundantly clear that he’s still madam president’s lap dog, he will do anything she orders…even if it means hunting down and killing Songbird….even though he was her mentor/friend…

BTW on a side note I’ve now realized I would suck at being a spy, let’s face it I’m too trusting of people, heck during my gameplay of this dlc I trusted Reed the whole time…why u may ask? Easy because it’s Idris Elba….yeah like I said I would suck at being a spy…also I trusted Songbird, and I said ohhh can’t believe she’s gonna help V….the hell is wrong with me? Lolo

So anyways Songbird calls u up, asks u to get her to the airport so they both can head out together…well I guess this means time for sneaking around because u spend the next uhhh 20 min sneaking in with a fake ID, try to find another opening inside for Songbird to sneak in…then u get captured, then Songbird has to save u with her hacking abilities….so u find ur way up to the roof after sneaking past guards with guns, and u use a rope to bring Songbird up…

Then now u have to sneak through the vents on the roof because Reed and madam president and her men show up, to hunt down Songbird……oh joy…..u try escaping the guards and all that which leads u the player (if I remember correctly) to 4 possible endings…..so pick wisely

Ending number 1: which leads u to end up finding shortly after that Songbird was gonna betray u….which wait leads to 2 options..either continue to help her, so u take her to a mainframe to plug her in she does get overloaded, she asks u to kill her….if u do so well madam president is pissed with u a long with Reed  whos upset u killed her…and u get nothing no compensation in return…

Ending number 2: or u call up Reed when u find out Songbird was gonna betray u and u hand her over to him…which also leads to 2 other options….2 other options

Option 1. Shoot Reed ans continue ur way with Songbird

Option 2. Don’t shoot Reed and hand Songbird to him, in exchange for them curing V in return

If u choose option 1. U end up killing Reed and continue the story which will lead to same outcome as ending number 1, except this time with Reed also dead

Ending number 3: u give Songbird over to Reed and he holds up his end of the bargain, he will contact u in a few days to tell u about that the doctors are waiting for u…they arr the best doctors in the world, but the issue is its far from night city…which leads into 2 more options

Option 1. Take him up on the deal and get cured

Option 2. Don’t take him up on the offer and instead eventually die in night city from the virus in ur head…because Johnny asks u if u really want to be cured? Because if u do that means Johnny dies this time permanently

If u pick option 2, well u know what happen, the main story continues which u will eventually fight Adam Smasher and defeat the big bad of the city..with the help of Johnny in ur head….

Ending number 4: if u pick option 1, u will get flown away…Johnny isn’t happy that ur gonna let him die, take him out of u…he’s gonna miss having a second chance and having u…which understandable, but this relationship has been toxic, anyways u wake up in a hospital bed u find out from Reed u been unconscious for like 2 years…

Jesus christ that’s a long time, also if that’s not bad enough ur abilities u had in the game the upgrades and all that, including the cyberwear…it all gets removed, ur now a normal human…..they had to remove them, and there’s no way to get them back unless u want the virus in ur head….or worse die on the spot, it was too risky….then Reed offers u a job there with him…which leads to 2 more options

Option 1. U agree and u basically leave ur life in the past and have a new one at a work with the government with Reed…

Option 2. U don’t take him upon his offer, and try to go back home

If u pick option 1. Well then it’s plain and simple now isn’t it?

If u pick option 2. Well here’s where things become rough, so u try calling old friends…u try calling up Judy, who u find out she’s moved on and got married with another woman….Jesus so guess there goes that love interest u had for the whole game…also she moved out of the city as well, she’s really sorry…ugh this is depressing

So u call up Panam, she doesn’t answer her phone

So then u call up Viktor….at first he doesn’t know who is calling him, but u tell him it’s V…he’s happy and shocker ur still alive…u ask if he can help reprogram back in the stuff u had in ur body…..he says he will try..

So u leave go to him, u find out his position has changed, he now answers to a boss..he’s been promoted down, and he now has to wear a doctors coat even though he doesn’t like wearing one….he tries hacking into u to reprogram back in the stuff, but he cant….so ur now just a normal human…

So with u down on ur luck, u leave walk around notice a mugging try to stop it, but u get pushed down the stairs, and guess who shows up to help u it’s Misty, and she has a new hairstyle, instead of bushy…it’s not smooth, shorter and combed down….she sits down talks to V to catch up with her…but Misty doesn’t have too long her taxi is coming….but her taxi to what exactly? Well Misty is leaving Night City, away from all the hectic….oh no she’s leaving…

Yeah she’s leaving to a jungle, hey good on her…get out of this cesspool of a city……anyways V tells her that they are now a normal person with no abilities…what should they do? Which Misty says just disappear in the crowd of the people that’s all u can do….V tells her about the job she was offered, which Misty says ohh u gonna take it? Which V says I’m not sure yet…

V asks her if Misty will ever come back here? Which Misty says I don’t like to plan that far ahead, so V says so no then? Which Misty says most likely no…..ugh this ending is hurting me…

So Misty’s taxi is here so they both walk up to her taxi…

We finally get to see V in third person view and they are bald now!? Yep they are bald….ummm yikes…

Anyways, before Misty enters the taxi she asks V if she still has that necklace of the bullet she gave them? Which V can’t find it and Misty says good don’t go looking for it…then she says goodbye V…then she gets in her taxi and drives away…..and the final shot is of V walking into the crowd…..

Ugh I hate this ending, it’s supposed to be a happy ending but nothing about it feels like a happy ending, also I’ll put a link to all the endings here..

Yeah to me that didn’t feel happy at all, also if yall can’t tell…this path impacts the main story, as in if u pick this ending the game ends here and u won’t go on to fight Adam Smasher, which means also the mean corporation guy will get away with everything as well….oh joy….also I don’t like endings where friends leave there friends, look I know how that feels…it hurts, probably why I always feel emotional when it comes to these scenes in games or shows or films…I’m just like don’t go…idk something in me feels like it breaks because it’s like but will they won’t they ever see said friend again?

Heck had the same emotions at the end of Toy Story 3 when Andy dropped Woody and the gang at a child’s house….it just felt sad seeing Andy leaving for collage and will never see Woody and the gang again…..I’m getting emotional saying that…..

Right back to the review uhh I actually enjoyed this DLC story mission, it felt like a new breath of fresh air, I also liked how the game added built-in guns to specific vehicles now…. that’s a cool futuristic addition to the game…overall this is a really good DlC, I recommend buying it….this is, unfortunately, unfortunately the last DLC though as they said they’re done with this game….well this game did start odd roughly when it started and now look at it…the game feels finally fixed and completed, it only took them 2 years but still lolo….

So I’ll give this DLC a solid 10/10
